How to Obtain a Georgia Accident Report From BuyCrash

Any time an officer is called to the scene of a wreck, they fill out an auto accident report. One of the simplest ways to get your Georgia crash report form is to go online and access the website BuyCrash.

Although BuyCrash is the most direct way to access your motor vehicle accident report, there are a few alternate methods you can try that we’ve listed below.

You can also skip the hassle of trying to find and get a copy of a police report by contacting Gary Martin Hays & Associates at (770) 934-8000 or online. A consultation is fast, free, and we handle the accident report request for you, saving you time and energy. We can even notify the insurance company about the accident on your behalf and act as a buffer that stands between you and their team of lawyers.

How to Get Your Police Crash Report

In Georgia, your crash report can be accessed at www.buycrash.com. On the main page, you will see a prompt to start your search and select the state where the accident occurred.

Step 1. Select “Georgia” and press “Search”.

Step 2. Enter the last name of the party involved in the wreck. Then, input the date of the motor vehicle accident. For the final part, enter one of the following:

  • The VIN (vehicle identification number) is the car’s specific identifying code. A VIN is like a car’s fingerprint — no two vehicles have the same one. The VIN is 17 characters long and contains both numbers and capital letters (vehicles pre-1981 have between 11-17 characters).

You can find the VIN by looking on the outer dashboard on the driver’s side of the vehicle, where the corner meets the windshield. If it’s not there, it can be found on the back post of the driver’s side door where it latches closed. The VIN can also be found on the insurance card or policy, or the vehicle’s title and registration papers.

  • The report number or local code refers to the police report generated and filed by the officer who responded to the car accident. You can request a copy of this report from the police officer. Typically, the investigating officer will provide the person at the scene of the crash with a receipt that contains the identification number for the police report. Contact the traffic division of the agency that responded to the crash to obtain a copy (there may be a small administrative fee). If you do not know the incident number, provide the name of the person involved in the wreck as well as the date, time, and location it happened.

Alternatively, you could try to get a free copy of the accident report from the claims representative of your insurance company, as they may have requested a copy. It can take up to a few weeks for the law enforcement officer to complete their report and make it available.

  • The simplest method may be to enter the driver’s license number of the involved party. The driver’s license number for Georgia is located on the front of the license card toward the bottom.
