Gary Martin Hays is not only a successful lawyer, but also a nationally recognized safety advocate who works tirelessly to educate families and children on issues such as bullying, internet safety, and abduction prevention. To support this work, Gary co-authored the best-selling book, The Authority on Child Safety: How to Talk to Your Kids About Their Personal Safety Without Scaring Them.

He currently serves on the Stewardship Committee for North Point Community Church, and is on the board for Street Grace, an organization fighting to eradicate sex trafficking.

Civic Activities

In addition to supporting local charities such as Legal Food Frenzy and Christmas Gifts for Foster Kids, Gary seeks opportunities to help his community and state in a number of ways:

• Pedaled an adult-sized big wheel over 500 miles to raise money and awareness for various charities.
• Founded Keep Georgia Safe in 2008, a non-profit whose mission provided safety education and crime prevention training in Georgia. This organization trained over 80 state and local law enforcement officers on how to respond in the event a child is abducted.
• Gave away more than 1000 bicycle helmets to promote safety.
• Awarded 15 college scholarships to deserving high school students.
• Raised money and awareness for the Freemont Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to providing scholarships to outstanding students attending HBCUs.
• Donated laptops to financially underprivileged students for remote-learning purposes in 2020.

Other Unique Endeavors

• A guest announcer on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
• Appeared in Nickelodeon's See Dad Run with Scott Baio, as well as in Drop Dead Diva on the A&E Network.
• Performed in The Lion King, Rock of Ages, and Motown: The Musical on Broadway.
• In 2013, performed with the legendary rock group Chicago at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre with two of his daughters.
• Valerie Plame Wilson featured him in her novel Burn as an ex-CIA operative and weapons expert from Alabama.
• Bill Engvall assumed his name “Gary Martin Hays’” while playing the White House Chief of Starr in Sharknado 3.
