Several injured in MARTA bus accident in Atlanta

By JIM DANKO

A MARTA bus accident in Atlanta on Jan. 23 resulted in more than a dozen injuries, according to media reports.

The public transportation bus apparently struck a tree around 7:20 a.m. near Nathan Road and Brownlee Place in the city’s southwest side. The injury victims, including the bus driver, were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, a MARTA spokeswoman told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In total, 19 people, including the driver, were treated for injuries, although the extent of the injuries was not yet known.

Additional details about the accident involving the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority bus were not immediately available.

"The injury victims would be well advised to be wary of settling any claims or meeting with any insurance representatives," said Atlanta personal injury lawyer Gary Martin Hays, of Gary Martin Hays & Associates, P.C. "If you or someone you know was injured, it would be wise to allow sufficient time to make sure you or your loved one is physically and mentally recovered before resolving any legal claims. Hopefully, everyone injured will make a full recovery."
